Upcoming creativity trends for 2019/20
From January 26th to January 29th 2019 the Creativeworld took place in Frankfurt. The Creativeworld is the biggest and most important international trade fair for the DIY sector.
362 exhibitors from all over the world presented their products for hobbies, arts and crafts, graphic artists' and artists' requisites, handiwork, textile design and decorative handicrafts.
I was able to visit the fair as a blogger and I want to show you what I have discovered concerning handicrafts.
The Creativeworld trends 2019/20
- snug and convivial -
Gentle white meets comfortable structures.
Here you'll find wall hangings in makramee technique made from soft yarn, thread or cord.
- simple and unpretentious -
Tactile materials like ceramics, linen and wool play a major role in this trend. Colours are rich and dense. Here you'll find crocheted placemats and coasters from wool and waxed cotton cord.
- bright colours and festive formality -
For this trend paper in bright colours like yellow, orange, red or pink is used to create invitation cards, cardboard containers, gift boxes, wrapping paper and paper tablecloths. Garlands are made with colourful woolen pompoms.
Rico Design presented their products in a lovely decorated booth. Main topics here were paper, decoration and party.
Their trend for handicrafts is named "crafted nature" and includes yarn and fabrics in gentle, cosy colours. Latest technique is "punch needle embroidery". A punch needle is used to embroider fabrics with yarn to create a 3d-effect. Pillows, decorations and even stuffed animals can be made with this technique.
Myboshi received the Creative Impulse Award 2019 for their new "favourite colours" natural dyes. The kits contain all components that are needed for natural dying of yarn and fabric.
Seen at Christophorus Verlag
New at frechverlag: Crochet kits for fluffy amigurumis with huge sparkling eyes.
T-shirt yarn in many colours by Bobilon from Ukraine
Lovely inspirations by Stafil from Italy
Amazing crochet kits by Hardick from the Netherlands
"Hygge" was the theme at Creativ Company from Denmark. They had huge crochet hooks and knitting needles. I even found a Tunisian crocheted pillow.
I'd like to thank the companies mentioned above for their permissions to take photos and the Frankfurt Fair for the admittance.
